Vi gleder oss over å innlede vårsesongen med separatutstillingen «Anthropology Archaeology Apology» av kunstnerduoen Bakketun & Norum. Velkommen til utstillingsåpning torsdag 18/01 kl. 18-20!

Andrea Bakketun var sist aktuell med separatutstillingen «Puck» i Kunstnerforbundets vindussal i oktober/november. Christian Tony Norum presenterer for tiden nye arbeid i en solo-utstilling ved Galleri K frem til 14. januar 2018. Ved siden av sine individuelle praksiser har paret stilt ut som kunstnerduoen Bakketun & Norum siden 2012. Sammen har de har stilt ut og vist performancer på blant annet Kunstforeningen GL STRAND, København; UKS (Unge Kunstneres Samfund), Oslo; Papay Gyro Nights Arts Festival, Orknøyene og Cattle Depot Artist Village, Hong Kong. 

Duoen undersøker intuitivt sine omgivelser, arkitektoniske og fysiske kvaliteter på et sted, så vel som reminisensen etter et objekt, et spor av en personlig historie eller historisk hendelse. Samarbeidet danner et tredje uttrykk, der to vidtfavnende kunstnerskap kommer sammen og kolliderer. Utstillingen vil vise en totalinstallasjon som beveger seg igjennom Oslo kunstforenings tre rom. I installasjonen inngår bl.a. skulptur, video, oljemaleri, akvareller og kjemikalier på papir.

Bakketun & Norum ble tildelt Sparebankstiftelsen DNBs stipend hos Oslo Kunstforening i 2015. 

Andrea Bakketun har en BA Fine Arts fra Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam (2008) og MA fra Kunstakademiet i Oslo (2013). Bakketun har hatt soloutstillinger på Kunstnerforbundet, Oslo; NoPlace, Oslo; Kunsthaus Essen, Essen; Munch´s atelier på Ekely, Oslo og II Stile, Berlin. Hennes arbeider har blitt vist i en rekke gruppeutstillinger i Norge og utland, inkludert «Pattern Drill», Hacienda/1857, Zürich; «Induction», Art from Barents, Murmansk; «Dating Service», Autocenter, Berlin; «Kopie - Documented Now», De Brakke Grond, Amsterdam; «Battle No.19», Pink Cube, Oslo; Kunstnernes Hus, Oslo, «Contstant.Decay», RAKE Visningsrom, Trondheim og «Wildlife Skulpturpark», Akershus. I 2012 initierte og produserte Bakketun (sammen med Silje L. Haaland) prosjektet «Five thousand generations of birds», en utstilling i Fitjarøyene utenfor Bergen, der 16 internasjonale kunstnere ble invitert til å jobbe og stille ut på sin egen holme.  

Christian Tony Norum har en BA og MA Fine Arts fra Kunstakademiet i Oslo (2012). Norum har hatt en omfattende utstillingspraksis nasjonalt og internasjonalt. Han har stilt ut og gjort performance ved Manifesta 11, Zürich; Kunsthall Oslo, Kaleidoscope Art fair/Macro Museum, Roma; MoMA PS1, New York; Gavu Cheb Museum, Praha; QB Gallery, Oslo; Kunstnernes Hus, Oslo, Malmö Konsthall, Malmö; Nasjonalmuseet, Oslo; 18th street Art Center, Los Angeles; Munchmuseet, Oslo; Munchs Atelier på Ekely, Oslo; Kunstnerforbundet, Oslo og NoPlace, Oslo. Norum har også en kuratorisk praksis bak seg og har gjort flere omfattende utstillinger, blant annet «Chanting all clamoring, chirping (Chiroptera), blaring elevator stops. Dings» på Munchmuseet, som involverte 50 kunstnere. Norums arbeider er representert i Nasjonalmuseets samling, Storebrands Kunstsamling og flere private samlinger. Han er representert av Galleri K, Oslo.

We are thrilled to commence our spring season with the exhibition «Anthropology Archaeology Apology» by the artist duo Bakketun & Norum. Please join us for the opening, Thursday 18/01 between 6-8 pm!

Andrea Bakketun was most recently on view at Kunstnerforbundet (Oslo) with her separate show «Puck» this October/November. Christian Tony Norum is currently showing new work at Galleri K (Oslo) until January 14, 2018. Bakketun & Norum have operated as an artist duo sidelining their own practises since 2012. Their exhibitions and performances have found place in amongst other places Kunstforeningen GL STRAND, Copenhagen; UKS (Young Artists’ Society), Oslo; Papay Gyro Art Nights Festival, Orkney Islands and Cattle Depot Artist Village, Hong Kong.

The duo explores their surroundings in an intuitive manner, the architectural and physical qualities of place, as well as objects, traces of a personal stories or historical events. Bakketun & Norum’s collaboration form a third expression, where two wide-scoping practises come together and collide. The exhibition will present a full installation which will move through Oslo Kunstforening’s three rooms. The installation will include sculpture, video, oilpainting, acrylics and chemicals on paper.

Bakketun & Norum was awarded the Savings Bank Foundation DNB’s art grant at Oslo Kunstforening in 2015.
